OTHER GARMIN GPS FAQ's

I navigated to a street address in Bali but was the wrong house number ?
Please note that although you can search by address including house number the Bali Navigator will navigate you to the start of the road in Bali regardless of the house number you entered. This is not a limitation of Bali Navigator map but is due to the fact that Bali does not have systematic house numbering as found in other countries such as the US, Canada, Australia etc...  In Bali for example house number 8 could be found at the start of a street with number 1 found in the middle of the street. Also street numbers are commonly duplicated with numbers suffixing with an "x" for example you may find house number 21 AND 21X. For this reason the Bali Navigator will navigate you to the start of a street regardless of the street number entered.

Why can't I find POI and roads in Bali after downloading my map ?
Some customers report that they cannot find POI (Points Of Interest) and roads for Bali in their GPS after downloading the Bali Navigator Map. This problem is experienced by customers who purchase Bali Navigator outside Bali and try to find POI or roads in Bali when they are in Europe or Australia etc... This problem occurs because the GPS searches for POI and roads from the position the GPS is at. Because the unit may have a base map of the world loaded, and possibly Australia and NZ map, Europe or North America AND the Bali Navigator Map installed there are literally 100,000’s of POI and roads. If you are not in Bali the search range of the GPS will be exceeded before it reaches Bali. This will result in the message “Road not found” or  “POI not found”. Once you are in Bali all will work well. You can use the pointer and zoom of your GPS to locate Bali and zoom in. Once you zoom in to street level the street names and POI will appear.

Where can I find a Bali Navigator dealer in Bali ?
There are now 4 conveniently located Bali Navigator dealers in Bali.

All 4 dealers rent Bali Navigator GPS units, 3 dealers sell GPS units, but only 1 dealer (our main dealer in Sanur installs maps).
To locate the closest dealer  to you go HERE

Are your Bali Navigator maps GeoCache friendly ?
Yes. To download and install Garmin GeoCaches is very easy.

1. First you must create an account with Garmin

2. Next you log in and navigate to GoGeocaching.com.

Simply follow the directions by selecting an area, connect your Garmin  and the GeoCache is downloaded to your Garmin GPS.

Make touring around Bali a real adventure and join in the fun of GeoCaching, the craze that is fast becoming popular all over the world.

Why are there duplicate POI's when I use "Where to" on the Garmin GPS ?
Although rare there are sometimes you will find there are duplicate POI (Points of Interest) when using "Where to?" on your Garmin GPS.

This can arise because:

The POI may be a hotel or resort with a restaurant with the same name.

In this case there may be an entry for

(1) the hotel / resort and

(2) it's attached restaurant.

There is no easy answer for (1) above.  For (2) above we have surveyor trackers that are systematically locating and removing these duplicates as we pass thru these areas again during survey updates and eventually these duplicates will be pruned from our map data over time.

Also when we are tracking and surveying around Bali we may have recorded the information for the POI from a sign on the road as well as at the actual location of the POI. The sign is usually near the location of the POI but may not be the actual location of the POI which may be down a gang (lane) off the main road.
